Board & Staff Retreats

Board and/or Staff Retreats are essential for board members, staff and volunteers to gain commitment, establish priorities, develop plans and really assess the mission and vision of the organization.  They involve interaction between participants, high energy and a focus on accomplishing realistic and specific goals.

The main reason a retreat fails to accomplish its purpose is largely due to the process being tedious and the resulting plan lacking: (1) key activities to be realized by the organization; (2) identification of those responsible for achieving activities and objectives outlined therein; and (3) a timeline for completion is either not done or unrealistic.

The mojaevans PPS Board/Staff Retreat Package includes:

• A planning session with the chief executive and other key board/staff members;
• Facilitation of the retreat;
• Written report with recommendations; and
• A three-month status check list to stay on track.

Our goal is to work in partnership with the organization and focus on identifying priorities and help with setting goals and objectives for the organization to achieve.  Since the goals of retreat vary dramatically based on what the organization would like to achieve, below are some ideals we believe can be accomplished from a retreat:

• Examine or re-examine the mission statement
• Team Building among board, staff and volunteers
• An introduction to fundraising or development of a fund-raising plan
• Establish or re-establish roles and responsibilities of board members
• Create a vision and direction for the organization
• Change the culture of the board, staff or volunteers
• Analyze, recruit and orientate new board members
• Solidify and improve relationships between board and staff
